Quick Overview of NDO (North Davis Orientation)
North Davis Orientation is held several times during the course of the year on Sunday morning at 9am to introduce you to the North Davis Church and discover what membership is all about. NDO...
NDO helps you get answers to all those little questions like...
“How does someone ‘Place Membership?’”
After filling out a "Guest Card" and placing it in the collection plate on Sunday morning, you will be contacted within that week by a staff member. This individual will be your contact point for questions about membership.
At North Davis, we believe membership is a continuous journey in which all are encouraged to join and participate (see "Why Place Membership" below). That being said, there are a few simple introductory steps we ask of all new members:
1). Attend North Davis Orientation (NDO)
2). Fill out a personal profile and submit it to Beverly Kellar (bkellar@northdavischurch.org)
3). Be introduced during Sunday morning worship
4). Allow our Audio/Visual team to take a picture of your family so our Elders and Staff can put your name(s) with your face(s)
“Do I have to attend Orientation before becoming a member?”
We believe the information relayed and relationships built at NDO are very important before placing membership. If you cannot make the next scheduled NDO, email Tanner (tking@northdavischurch.org) and he will be glad to conduct a mini-NDO at your convienience.
“Why not just check a card or have someone come down front?”
We believe that identifying with a church family is important. An orientation allows everyone to ask questions, find out what the church is all about, what a church expects of its members, and what a member can expect from
Why Place Membership?
Membership says, “I belong here.” God says believers belong together (Heb. 10:23–25). You sense that God wants you here with the people of
Membership says, “We share the same ministry goals.” God says believers are to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Eph. 4:16). You believe Jesus has a work to do here and around the world, and you’re willing to join with others to see that it gets done.
Membership says, “I accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers in the family of God.” That’s God’s plan as well (Gal. 6:1–2, 10). You want to be part of a caring network of people, sharing one another’s joys and sorrows, and helping one another grow through worship, Bible study, and fellowship.
Membership says, “I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God.” God warns against spiritual autonomy (Heb. 13:17; Matt. 18:15–20). You don’t want to go it alone standing for Jesus Christ; you want to receive the guidance, equipping, and assistance necessary to remain on target.
Membership says, “I accept responsibility for how things are done here.” The Bible says that Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her. Identifying with a church places us in a position of responsibility and identifies us with Christ’s relationship with the church. Every member helps shape our church’s direction and ministry goals. (Eph. 5.25; 1 Cor. 12:20–27).
Membership allows our shepherds to care for you. God has given our elders the biblical responsibility of “overseeing the flock.” Identifying with
